Welcome to Hike Expeditions. By booking any tours, treks, or travel services with us, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. These terms outline the agreement between you (the traveler) and Hike Expeditions regarding the use of our services, including guided hikes, cultural tours, and adventure travel experiences in Peru.

Bookings and Reservations

All bookings must be made through our official website, email, or authorized representatives of Hike Expeditions. A reservation is considered confirmed only after:

  • Receipt of the required deposit or full payment
  • Issuance of a written confirmation email

Due to high demand for destinations such as Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail, we strongly recommend booking in advance.

Payments and Pricing

All prices are listed in US dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated.

  • A deposit is required to secure your booking
  • The remaining balance must be paid before the tour departure date
  • We reserve the right to adjust prices due to changes in government fees, entrance tickets, train fares, or currency fluctuations
  • Accepted payment methods may include credit cards, bank transfers, and secure online payment platforms.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellation policies depend on the type of tour or service booked.

  • Deposits are generally non-refundable
  • Cancellations made with sufficient notice may be partially refundable
  • Last-minute cancellations may result in 100% cancellation fees

Please note:

  • Machu Picchu entrance tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable
  • Train tickets and permits (such as Inca Trail permits) are also non-refundable

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.

Changes and Modifications

Travelers may request changes to their booking; however:

  • Changes are subject to availability
  • Additional fees may apply
  • Some services cannot be modified once confirmed (especially permits and tickets)

Hike Expeditions reserves the right to modify itineraries due to weather conditions, safety concerns, strikes, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Travel Responsibilities

Travelers are responsible for:

  • Carrying a valid passport and required travel documents
  • Ensuring they meet health and fitness requirements for trekking tours
  • Following instructions provided by guides and staff

Failure to comply may result in removal from the tour without refund.

Health and Safety

Our tours may involve physical activity at high altitudes. By booking with Hike Expeditions, you confirm that you are physically fit and capable of participating. We are not responsible for:

  • Altitude sickness
  • Injuries or accidents during tours
  • Loss or damage to personal belongings

Travel insurance is highly recommended.

Liability Disclaimer

Hike Expeditions acts as an intermediary with third-party providers such as hotels, transportation services, and train operators. We are not liable for:

  • Delays or cancellations caused by third parties
  • Weather disruptions or natural events
  • Government restrictions or closures

Force Majeure

Hike Expeditions is not responsible for failure or delays in performance due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters
  • Political unrest
  • Pandemics
  • Strikes or transportation disruptions

Code of Conduct

All travelers are expected to behave respectfully toward:

  • Local communities
  • Guides and staff
  • Cultural and archaeological sites

Any inappropriate behavior may result in removal from the tour without refund.

Privacy Policy

Hike Expeditions respects your privacy. Personal information collected during bookings will be used only for operational and communication purposes and will not be shared with third parties without consent.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Peru. Any disputes shall be resolved under Peruvian jurisdiction.
